Managing Energy & Focus

... Well, don't I feel like a hypocrite as I sit down to write this week's email. You see, the topic I've chosen to write about this week is, "How to manage your focus and energy as a Generator type"... and I am distracted AF!

I have a pinboard on the wall right in front of me, and it's brand new. I've filled it with all of the ideas I have, vision board stuff, ideal customer archetypes...

and it is SO DISTRACTING! I look at it and I get overwhelmed. (In fact, my "moon journal" entry for last Tuesday says "Feeling so overwhelmed with all the work ahead. I know I can do it but it's just so daunting..."

I need to manage it better. So that's what I'm writing about this week, and hopefully the lessons I apply to my own life might be helpful in yours, too.

(Pause, delete 2 items from the pinboard)

(Close the moon journal, set it aside, move things around until my field of view is a bit less cluttered...)

Now, what I was I writing about?

Oh yeah, how to manage focus as a Generator! (omfg, how embarrassing!)

Even if you're not a Sacral type (that is, Generator or Manifesting Generator), you definitely know and love some of us, since we're close to 70% of the population - so this should be helpful for everyone.

Generator-types have a defined Sacral center (the Sacral is the same as the 2nd chakra in the more familiar 7-centered Chakra system - even though we use 9 in HD). That means that we have - when we live in alignment - consistent access to our creative energy. BUT - the strategy of the Generator and Mani-Gen is to respond.

Which means, for us, environment is EVERYTHING!

If there are distracting things to respond to - phone, email, social media - that is where our energy and focus will go. If we want to get anything done, we have to start by focusing our environment.

I'm in a transition right now - starting something so hugely exciting and terrifying that I can't even talk about it right now - (you'll be the first to know, don't worry) - so I'm also in a bit of a disorganized state in my office. Notecards, pens, printouts... all in service of this new incredibly exciting pursuit & goal... but this space needs some time to settle in first. As without, so within - our environment reflects our inner state, and vice versa. Change the setting, change the mindset.

OK, so I was talking about the importance of environment for sacral types. Since we are designed to respond to what we encounter. I did some tidying of my office today, and I just closed my computer, and set it, and my phone, aside. My field of view consists only of this yellow legal pad, a few note cards, and empty desk. And it's working!

I just drafted the intro sections for my upcoming --- heck, can't talk about that yet --- anyway let's just say I got a good amount of writing done --- REAL writing, by hand, with a pen, on a legal pad --- and checked several things off of my (analog) to-do list. And now finishing this email is at the top of the list! So let's get it done.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting that environment isn't important for non-Sacral types - that's all you Projectors, Manifestors, and Reflectors out there. But it's less crucial for you than it is for us with the Response strategy - because we literally can't help but respond when we see something that makes us go "oooh!!" And for those of us who are earlier on this journey, if we haven't done the work and learned how to tell the difference between our sacral "yes" and a quick hit of dopamine (guilty!!) - that can be a huge issue.

And this is why knowing - and living - our Design is so empowering!

So, you've probably figured out by now that I'm up to something, but just to fess up to it, I joined a business incubator for writing (which is why you're hearing from me regularly) and it's already been incredibly transformative. You'll hear more about it - and what I'm producing through it - in future emails, but it's already been so powerful, and in conjunction with my astrology and my Design - that sacral YES that I felt when I learned about the program, the Mars/Jupiter conjunction of action and abundance in my 2nd house of finances that happened on the day I booked the admissions call, the fact that it was 2:22PM when that call ended - learning to identify and recognize the signs from the universe that you're on the right path is so transformative!
